Step 01

Download POS-X 891 Drivers

Download the official drivers for the POS-X 891 Thermal Receipt Printer. Ensure you download the correct package for your operating system before connecting the hardware.

Supported OS: Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit).

Download POS-X 891 Drivers (Windows)

Step 02

Unbox & Connect Hardware

To prevent Windows from assigning an incorrect generic driver, make sure your POS-X 891 is fully connected before running the software setup.

  • Connect the power adapter to the printer and plug it into a stable power source.
  • Connect the USB cable securely to the back of the printer and directly into your PC's motherboard (avoid front-panel USBs or external hubs).
  • Turn on the power switch. The printer will initialize and the status indicator light will turn solid blue/green.
Step 03

Installing on Windows 10 / 11

Extract your downloaded POS-X driver folder and run the setup utility.

  • Right-click the .exe setup file and select "Run as Administrator" to ensure proper permissions.
  • Accept the license agreement and proceed.
  • Select your operating system (it will auto-detect Windows 10 or Windows 11).
  • Select the 80C Series model from the printer list and click Install.
Step 04

Configure USB Port (Crucial Step)

Like all professional POS hardware, the POS-X 891 requires you to manually confirm its USB port assignment.

  • In the installer window, click the "Check USB Port" button.
  • The POS-X 891 will automatically print a small receipt displaying its assigned port (e.g., USB001 or USB002).
  • Select that exact USB port from the dropdown menu and click OK.

Verification: Go to Windows Start Menu > Printers & Scanners > Manage > Print a test page. If the test page prints and is automatically cut, your setup is complete!

Step 05

Buy Thermal Receipt Paper

Running low on supplies? The POS-X 891 uses standard 80mm thermal paper rolls. Don't risk damaging your thermal print head with cheap, dusty paper.

Frequently Asked Questions

If the printer prints but doesn't cut the paper automatically, the setting might be disabled in Windows. Go to Printers & Scanners > Manage > Printing Preferences. Look for the "Document Settings" or "Paper/Quality" tab, and ensure the Cash Drawer / Cutter setting is set to "Report Cut" or "Partial Cut at End of Document".

A continuous beep and a red error light usually indicate that the printer is out of paper, or the top cover is not fully closed. Press down firmly on both sides of the lid until it clicks into place. If it still beeps, ensure the paper roll is inserted correctly.

Yes. The POS-X 891 has an RJ11/RJ12 port on the back. Simply plug your cash drawer cable into this port. In the Windows Printing Preferences, you can configure the cash drawer to pop open automatically before or after a receipt prints.
